This project is a modest home retreat situated within a sprawling landscape.  The home hybridizes styles of the traditional farmhouse with modernism and the Arcadian ethos of a rural paradise. This 4-bedroom 3-bathroom integrates a vaulted ceiling with clerestory windows to create breathtaking living spaces. The 2-story design dramatically increases sightlines across the plains, emphasizing outward horizons. The kitchen features an operable ribbon window which opens the space to the outdoors in seconds. Views to the North and South invite in natural light while maximizing solar efficiency. Eastern and western exposures minimize punched openings to help reduce solar height gain during harsh summers. This home is a practical approach to building a modern retreat in any landscape worth observing.
